Madam Happy
about us

💛 OUR FOUNDER'S VISION

Madam Happy Emmanuella Akunlibey dreamed of helping vulnerable children since her own childhood. In 2021, she opened an inclusive pilot school in Zenu — going door to door to sensitize the community about early childhood education.

When Master Daniel — a boy with autism, son of a struggling single father — became our first boarding student on October 12, 2021, our inclusive journey began.

As we enrolled more children with disabilities, some parents withdrew their non-disabled children due to misunderstanding. But we refused to give up.

Today, Happy Academy is a full special school serving children with diverse disabilities. What started as one woman’s dream is now a home for 50+ children

about us

💛 OUR FOUNDER'S VISION

Madam Happy Emmanuella Akunlibey (Mrs. Adongo Happy Emmanuella) founded Happy Academy in 2021. Her passion for vulnerable children began in her own childhood.

When funds run low, she personally farms groundnuts to feed the children. Her husband, Awuni Adongo, works alongside her. Together, they have sold personal belongings to keep the school running.

“I never imagined I’d be farming groundnuts to keep a school alive — but for these children, I’d do anything. Every child here is my child. I will never abandon them.”

OUR SPONSORS & PARTNERS

We are grateful to the individuals, churches, and organizations who support our work.

OUR CHALLENGES — TRANSPARENT AND HONEST

We believe in radical transparency. Here is our reality:

Some parents have abandoned their children at our gate because they could not afford their care. We accepted every child.

We started as an inclusive school, but parents of non-disabled children withdrew their wards due to misunderstanding. We became a special school not by choice, but by necessity.

Some days, we do not know where the next meal will come from. But somehow, it always comes.
